The Ceilidh last night was a lot of fun. A fiddle player and a piano. Two young women from Cape Breton, we I sat in the front row and enjoyed some great gaelic music. After a big breakfast, we headed for the Cabot trail where the views of the water ands forest sere just beautiful. It took many hours to drive around the Cape. The weather was perfect and we even met someone from Wilmington, NC who had been traveling for 15 months! We stopped for a late lunch at the Red Shoe Pub. we continued on until we reached Stellerton, NS where we stopped for the night.

Day 8 Friday to Cape Breton
We are both feeling well and ready to begin our next adventure in NS. Since we missed Digby and the Southern shore we will have to come back another time but today we traveled the Eastern Shore to Cape Breton, which is as beautiful as they claim! Below is a picture of Bras D'Or Lake from our lodge room. The weather is overcast but warm, and tomorrow for our trip around the Cabot Trail, it is supposed to be beautiful. Tonight we are going to a Ceilidh "Kay-lee" after dinner to hear some Irish music.

Day 7
We did not travel today. Stayed in Halifax. Paul caught my intestinal bug so we decided to rest up for the next leg of our trip. Fortunately he is feeling much better tonight and we are off to explore the eastern shore on NS tomorrow and then to the beginning of the Cabot Trail which we will follow Saturday.
Day 6 Going to Halifax
It was a long trip from Bar Harbor to Halifax, but we made it safe and sound. The first thing we did was visit the cemetery where it is reported that the people from the Omega were buried. A small cemetery in Dartmouth. Then we did the Harbor walk and had a great fish lunch at "Murphy's"restaurant on the harbor. We spent a few hours at the NS National archives and then off to Peggy's cove. A spectacular place of rock formations and a light house.

Day 4 Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
Beautiful weather here in Maine! 75 and sunny. This morning after a quick breakfast in a local bakery/restaurant "outside cafe style" we started off to Acadia National park. The 27 mile drive was beautiful. By 11 am we were back on our deck drinking mimosa's. Paul rested most of the afternoon, while I went exploring the little town. It is really very cute here. We had a great pub dinner in Paddy's and walked back to our hotel to get ready for a very early start tomorrow morning..
Day 3 Nashua to Bar Harbor
We left New Hampshire early and headed for the coast road. Our first stop was the "Maine Diner" in Wells, featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Paul had the lobster pie and I had a lobster roll. Yum! We meandered through many small coast towns, stopping when the views were great. York was one of the nicest beach towns. We also loved Rockland. But there were many lovely little towns along the way. We also found LL Bean in Freeport, a shoppers mecca. We did not have lots of time though and found it a little overwhelming. We reached Bar Harbor around 5 pm. 10 hours after taking off. Glad we are resting here for two nights.

Day 2 Elkton, MD to Nashua, NH
We started out this morning at 7:30 after a quick breakfast at the Hampton Inn. Got through NYC on Rt 95 just fine but ran into some traffic in Connecticut. Paul did not like our route too much. There were some delays and the road surface was rough. Just before we reached Mass., Paul remembered a little book store/ restaurant/ antique store we topped at a long time ago PJ and Michelle. That is where we had a great lunch; I bought a puzzle and two books by Irving Stone. My favorite author. They are hard to find now, so I was very excited. We decided to get off the main roads and start to see some sights after lunch, so we winged a new route the old fashioned way using a map! We arrived in Nashua around 4:30, where Paul immediately took a short nap. Tomorrow starts our real vacation. We will head to the coast and drift up north to Bar Harbor, slowly .....eating some lobster on the way!
